“The views from the Gorge were spectacular. It’s the most beautiful walk we’ve ever been on and an amazing place, but don’t be fooled, it’s not easy. We went in mid October so low 20s was perfect temperature. Most of it was in the shade and ALL downhill but the later part of the trek was not shaded at all. The terrain was very rocky and slippery at times and very physically demanding on the knees. It’s also a 17km trek where you get picked up at 6am and dropped off at 8pm so you’ll be tired. There are water springs/refill stations everywhere so just bring 1 bottle per person.…”

“The beach was beautiful, but very crowded. This is worth noting. Its not like the pictures, ie secluded and serene. Its also a decent walk from bus stop to the beach so elderly may struggle. The bus trip itself too a very long time. Its 4-5 hours in transit, so you are really only at the beach for 4 hours. The bus goes all over the place picking people up. We would have happily paid double the ticket to go direct. The bus was air conditioned and comfortable. There is a major rest stop both ways, which is nice. The whole experience was 30 minutes and not 45 as presented in the presentation on the website when I have booked the tickets. There were 4 movies: one with pictures from Crete, one with a person (probably the founder of the museum) giving a brief presentation, one about the genesis of the Minoan culture and a last with a canion ride in a roller coaster.
