If you want a Crete sunset that feels more like a private sea day than a crowded tour, this small-group catamaran to Balos Lagoon is a strong pick. Two things I like a lot are the onboard snacks plus espresso and the open bar setup with beer and house wine, and I also love that you get real water time with included snorkeling gear and a long-ish swim window at Balos. One thing to consider, though, is that it is adult only, not recommended for kids under 16, so it is not the best choice if you are traveling as a family.

This cruise runs about 4 hours and starts at 5:00 pm. You will be picked up from the Chania city center area (flexible) and also from along the way to Kissamos port, and then you return back to the same meeting point when you are done. With a maximum of 22 people, it stays comfortable, and you will actually be able to hear the crew and move around the boat.

The other reality check is the weather. This experience requires good weather, and if it cannot run due to poor conditions, you will be offered a different date or a full refund. Pack for a short sunset day on the water, and plan to be flexible if the sea does not cooperate.
